I’ve spent the night trying to get moments alone with Alexis, but someone interrupts us at every turn.

I don’t care though. I’ve been at her side through most of it. Meeting her extended family. Smiling for pictures. And sneaking kisses whenever I dare.

Emily had pulled us aside and taken some shots to sneak to Alexis’s social media sometime later. I’m nervous for when she shares them with her fans.

Again I find myself tugging Alexis off to the side. She has been testing my control all night. “Woman, if you casually brush your ass against my cock again, I’m not going to be held accountable for what I do next,” I say huskily. The first time she did it, I thought it was by accident, but she has since then been braver at driving me wild in a crowded room. I’ve had to use her as a human shield and wait for my cock to calm down more than once.

She bites her lip innocently. “I thought it was foreplay.”

She’s going to kill me. And fuck if I’m not going to die happy.

I pull her close, wishing we were alone so I could kiss her like I want to when Joe walks over with a smile and says, “It’s ready.”

“What’s ready?” Alexis asks.

“Our surprise.” I give her a chaste kiss, then tug her to the center of the room. “Could I get everyone’s attention?” I say loudly, and the small crowd of people quiet down. “Outside are two horse-drawn wagons waiting for those who would like to join us for a ride at dusk. We won’t keep you long; we simply offer you a spectacular view you can only get here.”

The crowd murmurs and I smile down at Alexis. This is as much for her as for Holly and Chase.

The gasps from people as they walk outside is worth every penny we pooled together to borrow the wagons and horses for the night. We’d easily hidden them from everyone at Lee’s place down the road and had filled the wagons with hay bales for people to sit on.

Alexis’s smile is everything I was hoping for. The sun is setting in the west, and the route we have planned will take us toward it, so when we turn back around the sky will be filled with stars.

I help Alexis into the first wagon and tell her to save my seat while I help the others onto one of them.

I smile and hold my hand out to Linda, who squeezes my hand. “This is wonderful, Charlie.”

“I can’t take all the credit; it was Joe’s idea. He knows the owners.” Joe shrugs like it’s no big deal but winks at Linda.

“And I helped too,” Lee says, scrambling up after Linda.

She laughs. “You all did good. Look at Holly and Chase—they look so happy.”

She’s right. They have Chase’s mom beside them holding Jake, and they are all smiling.

As we start our ride, I finally slide in next to Alexis and hold her close. “What do you think?”

She snuggles into my side.
